ADHD & Autism Support Group – What to Expect

Helping You Navigate Your Energy and Relationships

Hi, I’m Victoria Gordon, a neurodivergent licensed professional counselor (LPC). In my work as a therapist, I specialize in supporting neurodivergent adults. This often includes those with ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, PTSD, and OCD. From my experiences as neurodivergent person and as one who supports others in my practice, I know how challenging it can be to manage energy, executive function, and friendships. That’s why I created a virtual ADHD & Autism skills group — a space where we focus on practical strategies, understanding ourselves, and maintaining meaningful connections.

What the Group Covers

The group is structured around three core modules:

1. Spoons Theory – Understanding Your Energy
We’ll explore Spoons Theory, a framework that helps you understand your fluctuating energy levels and support needs. You’ll be able to identify what your high-energy days look like versus your low-energy days, giving you better language and clarity to advocate for yourself with friends, family, and your community.

2. ABC Plan – Managing Energy and Executive Function
Everyone’s energy and executive functioning shifts day-to-day. Some days you feel capable and productive, other days you struggle to get started and might even feel ashamed. In this module, we’ll create an ABC Plan: a personalized approach to manage high- and low-energy days, prevent burnout, and set realistic limits tailored to your life.

3. Relationship Support Skills – Communicating Your Needs
Navigating friendships as a neurodivergent adult can be tricky. Many of us struggle with knowing how to ask for what we need or how to maintain friendships during shifts in energy. In this module, we’ll develop scripts and strategies to communicate effectively with your community and friends. You’ll learn how to be a reciprocal friend even when consistency looks different for you, and how to engage in relationships without burning out.

Why This Approach Works

I’m neurodivergent myself and was late-diagnosed with ADHD and Autism. I know what it feels like to be misunderstood, to try really hard with the best intentions, and still struggle to maintain friendships. I understand the frustration of fluctuating executive function — the days you feel capable and energized, and the days you’re stuck on the couch feeling ashamed.

All of this experience shapes how I work with participants in my group. I combine tools from Somatic therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to tailor support for each individual. These skills help me create practical, real-world strategies that you can apply immediately — whether for managing energy, executive function, or relationships.
